The popularity of the song led to the creation of a number of imitations and parodies in various languages around the world depicting different types of situations. It has currently crossed 52 million hits on YouTube.
Ram (Dhanush) and Janani (Shruti Hassan) begin their love affair in high school, their long courtship tested by uncertainty. The two lovers get past their struggles and their relationship culminates in marriage. However, the couple are not destined to live happy ever after, as tragedy strikes unexpectedly.
The highly anticipated movie starts off after the tragedy and goes back in time, focusing on their schooldays, their romance and how they beat the odds to eventually get married. The three-part flashback begins with happy moments during their teenage years, continues to the more serious part, where psychological and emotional issues surface and the dreaded tragedy.
How did love blossom for Ram and Janani? How did they end up getting married? What is the tragedy that changed their lives? These are the three questions 3 addresses in this two and a half hour movie.
3 is currently showing in cinemas across Malaysia.
